Live Sortiq: let your AI assistant read your email, safely
Sortiq screens and sorts Microsoft 365 mail for threats. Connect it to Claude, or any assistant that speaks MCP, and you can ask questions about your mail in plain language.
What it does
Sortiq already reads each message, sorts it into a category, checks who really sent it and holds back anything dangerous. The Sortiq connection hands that same stored information to your AI assistant, so you can ask things like "what is waiting in quarantine?" or "find the invoice from last week" and get an answer with the message behind it.
It is read-only. The assistant can search and read mail. It cannot send, reply, move or delete anything.
It costs no Sortiq or Tokard AI credits. The connection only returns mail Sortiq has already stored and sorted. The assistant that reads it, for example Claude on your own plan, does the thinking and is billed by whoever supplies it.
What your assistant can do
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_mailboxes | The mailboxes you can read, with message, unread and quarantined counts. |
search_emails | Find mail by words, sender, date, category, unread, attachments or quarantine. Returns short summaries, newest first. |
get_email | Read one message in full, with how Sortiq sorted it, whether the sender passed SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and any threat findings. |
list_quarantine | Messages Sortiq held back, with the reasons. |
list_categories | The categories Sortiq sorts your mail into. |
How it works
Make a key in Sortiq
Sign in to Sortiq, open Settings and choose Claude access. Name the key, choose how long it lasts (up to a year) and optionally limit it to certain mailboxes. Copy the key straight away. It is shown once.
Connect Claude Code
Run this once in your terminal, replacing the key. Claude Code then lists Sortiq among its tools.
claude mcp add --transport http sortiq https://app.sortiq.com.au/functions/v1/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SORTIQ_KEY"
Or connect another assistant
Any assistant that supports MCP over HTTP with a bearer token can use the same address and key. For Claude Desktop, use the mcp-remote bridge, giving it that address and the header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SORTIQ_KEY.
Ask your question
Start with something simple, then ask for what you need.
Things to ask
- What is in my Sortiq quarantine, and why was each message held?
- Find invoices from the last two weeks and list who sent them and the amounts.
- Which unread messages look important today?
- Show me anything from this sender that failed email authentication.
Safety and limits
- Each key belongs to one person and sees only the mailboxes that person owns or has had shared with them. It cannot see a colleague's or another organisation's mail.
- You can limit a key to particular mailboxes, give it an expiry date of up to a year, and revoke it in one click.
- Every request is recorded (what was asked, when, and by which key), never the content of the mail.
- Keys are stored as one-way hashes. A request is limited to 60 a minute per key.
- Email is written by other people. Sortiq labels everything an email contains as untrusted data and tells the assistant not to follow instructions found inside a message. That reduces the risk of a malicious email steering your assistant. It does not remove it, so treat actions an assistant proposes after reading mail with care.
- The assistant you connect receives the text of the mail it reads. Choose an assistant and plan whose data terms suit your organisation.
Not available yet
- Sending, replying, moving, categorising and deleting mail. These are not offered, on purpose.
- Claude on the web (claude.ai custom connectors) needs a sign-in flow Sortiq does not yet offer. Use Claude Code or a bridge such as mcp-remote for now.
Questions
Does this use my Tokard or Sortiq AI credits?
No. It returns stored mail and results Sortiq already produced. No AI model runs on the Sortiq side.
Can the assistant delete or send email?
No. The connection is read-only.
Can it read other people's mailboxes?
Only mailboxes you own or that have been shared with you, and only those a key is allowed to use.
How do I stop access?
Revoke the key in Sortiq under Claude access. It stops working immediately.
